What a fabulous day we’ve had at the museum today! We have learnt a lot about life during WW2 – making and mending garments, getting rations from the village store and cooking using unusual ingredients!
Cooking using the rations and food available meant families had to be creative.
We tried a pudding made from potatoes and raisins!
Learning how to darn socks and make rag rugs :
In the village store we used our ration books to buy some sweets. We measured out 1oz and looked at old coins – farthings, crowns, pennies and three pence coins.
The air raid drill and waiting for the all clear by the ARP (air raid patrol).
