This week, in Science, we looked at how sound travels. We went outside to investigate with ‘telephone cups’.  We found out that when you speak into the cup, the back of the cup vibrates. The vibration extends into the string and the sound waves (or vibrations) move through the string. It worked better when the string was tight because when the string is loose, it is softer and soft materials tend to absorb more sound than solid ones.

We also found out that if we joined our strings and kept them tight, we could all hear what one person in the group was saying. Amazing!
