This morning, the teachers thought they were visiting Friday assembly to hear the children sing a funny song. What they didn't know was that I had planned some challenges for them. In maths we have 'challenge by choice' so I thought it would be a good idea to have 'challenge, no choice' for the teachers! They all came up onto the stage and looked very nervous, indeed. I said that I would donate £10 to Children in Need if every teacher took part - how could they refuse?!
The first challenge was tackled by Mr Moore and Mrs Davies. They had to see how many marshmallows they could fit into their mouths (don't try this at home, children!). Mr Moore won with an amazing total of 12!
Next came the crackers challenge. Mrs Murton and Miss Burley had to crunch up crackers in their mouths and try to say 'Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers'. It was hilarious and very messy!
The third challenge was a gargling challenge, with Mrs Charlton set against Mrs Barker. Each of them had to take a mouthful of water and gargle a nursery rhyme for their partner to guess. Mrs Charlton won with her very wet rendition of Baa Baa Black Sheep.
Finally, Mrs Kearns and Miss Harmar took part in Egg Roulette. I had three eggs and told them that two were hard boiled and one was not. In turn, they had to pick an egg and I would try to break it on their head. Mrs Kearns' egg was hard boiled, so her hair was safe from an egg shampoo. Miss Harmar started to look very worried when it was her turn. Which egg would she pick...? Once she had her blindfold in place, I gave the egg to Mr Moore and pretended to break an egg on her head - she screamed and everyone laughed!
Thank you so much to our fabulous teachers for being such great sports. What a lovely start to a Friday morning!
