Morning everyone,
Remember, a great way to start your day is with a spot of P.E with Joe Wicks on his YouTube channel:
https://www.thebodycoach.com/blog/pe-with-joe-1254.html
Today's recommendations are:
English: Literacy Shed video 'Catch it' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c88QE6yGhfM
The video tells the story of a group of meerkats who lovingly tend to a beloved and unique fruit in the middle of the Savannah. One day, their peaceful existence is disrupted by a vulture intent on stealing their pride and joy. Will the meerkats be able to get it back? Writing idea: can you tell the story from the point of view of the main meerkat? You do not need to do the whole video, but you could get in some wonderful description of the Savannah at the beginning of the story. I have allowed comments at the bottom so that you can post your work and we can all have a read.
Maths: Twinkl Arithmetic Paper 1 - remember answers are at the back so you can mark your work, can you beat your highest score?
Topic: If you haven't already created a piece of topic homework for our current topic 'Revolution', this would be the perfect opportunity to create something amazing. Again, post pictures of your creations in the comments below.
Hope you all have a lovely day!

Catch It
When I woke up his morning I woke up to the dream life ,this harsh
yet beautiful Savana erupting with life like a colossal volcano . However the one thing I do not like about this environment is how scarce the food is ,even worse the droughts . Despite these cons I still adore life and I try to live it to its fullest .
Today is hunting day, it is the one day of the week that we are able to eat food and drink fresh water . Even though this time spell is battle between surviving the next week or not I still have passion for it . when I walked out of the burrow I knew I was going to be a good day after seeing a lush Mango hanging on the only tree in our surroudings. However this joy had only lasted for 10 minutes after that we realised that perseverance was going to be key .Yet again the vile pack of vultures that rule airspace of the savanna came to challenge us for our essential food . Their vicious talons that can be seen from a mile away the huge mass of body which bear the biggest wingspan of all the birds that I have ever seen . This atrocious creature took our food yet again but this time we would not stand for it .
The next thing I new was that me and my fellow meerkats are chasing this creature and gaining ground on it although as soon as we had caught up the inevitable occurred . We now knew the only chance of succeeding in getting our food back was to hang on ( quite literally ) . even though we are no flying creature we all managed to hang on in mid-air to our beloved fruit and not so beloved Vulture .Whom of which had now had enough of this nonsence and instead of having a fruit as its prey he thought he would have Meerkat .

It was early and we started to wake. We got up and looked out at the dry , beautiful dessert and went to our tree. As we all touch our fruit we hear a noise and run to our den. I was scared. We look out and see a vulture land on our tree, he stares at us and quickly steals our fruit. We chase after him me in the lead. As we run I decided to grab his leg and the others grabbed my legs. The vulture flew higher and higher and we all fell on the floor.

The savanna is dry sandy and hot however there’s one thing that keeps us meerkats going the fruit, the fruit belongs to the incredibly old tree at the west of the dusty savannah the fruit is called a peach once a year we gather this tree and collect one fruit (between the meerkats consequently, by only getting one fruit this means we will have fruit for next year as well. but unfortunately this year a vulture stole this extremely precious fruit so therefore we chased the vulture down and stole the fruit back however I foolishly thought I would have a go at trying to kick it over two trees and it splatted on the floor so now we don’t have any fruit

The Savannah is bright and dry, however when they saw the fruit they were excited because it is so dry in the savannah fruit does not grow much because of the fact there is not much rain and rain is used to grow stuff.

I woke up with a big stretch and tumbled from my bed, made up of all the other meerkats. I peaked out and gazed at the magnificent Savannah desert. The glorious morning sun shone down on the beautiful red sand. The sun drenched grass stood still. We headed over to the tree. I scurried up the tree quickly to admire the beautiful fruit. It was the most delightful looking fruit that smelt delicious. Suddenly a vulture appeared, it was big and scary with purple feathers. We ran back into our burrows and watched sadly as the mean vulture flew away with our fruit, all I could hear was his loud cackling laugh. We ran as fast as we could to catch up with him. I jumped and grabbed hold of the fruit but the vulture would not let go. We formed a chain and held on tight as the vulture flew high in the air.

Meerkat video
The atmosphere was quiet and lonely. In the middle of the Savannah, everything stood still. I woke up on that fine morning and stretched out my arms. I was the first one awake - as usual. The rest of the group were still in a deep sleep as I rolled over the others and went outside. My head popped out from behind a small hill as I breathed in the fresh, warm air. The sun was shining bright and I had a good feeling about the day ahead; however it didn't turn out as I expected. It all started when two more meerkats came up to join me, and before I knew it, the rest of the gang were standing beside me. We raced rapidly towards a nearby tree when we caught a glimpse of what may look like an ordinary fruit; it meant much more to us. They all stood back as I crawled swiftly towards it. The feeling in itself of touching this object is undescribable. This was what we had been waiting for and nothing was going to stop us now. We stood below it, swaying from side to side while admiring its true beauty. Out of nowhere, a large bird-like shadow appeared above our eyes. It swooped down landing on the branch overhead. It was so big that it took up all of my view. I couldn't make out what it was at first, as a result of its lightning-fast speed. When it landed, all I saw was evilness. I could tell after one look that it had to be bad news. There was no kindness in its eyes (just cruelty and power). Its wings spread out wide, acting like it ruled the world. They were deep purple and must have expanded further then all of the meerkats - including me - put together. The beak was razor-sharp and looked like it could take down a meerkat within seconds. Despite all those qualities, I was determined to do anything in order to protect the friends behind me. The beast let out a yell as me and the others ran for our lives before hiding inside the borrow. We took a peak to see what was happening. We all looked petrified but I knew that I had to stay strong for the team. The bird cackled as he took a step to the side: making his way to the fruit. A huge claw reached out before taking everything we had worked for. We looked at each other with fear and despair. It flew into the distance as our filled with tears. However, we weren't going to let him win. We rang at full speed, charging through like a herd of elephants. The ground was shaking. The devil looked behind at us. Using all our strength, we ran faster and faster. I lepted upon his pointy claws grabbing tight hold onto the food. Failing that, we all jumped up, holding each others feet from below creating a chain. Praying this would work, we pulled with all our might. The vulture flew off with us still holding on to the bottom. We flew across the whole Savannah before he looked back in anger and swung us all off into the distance. The berry came up with us and I managed to grab it before the vulture did. I cuddled it tightly, hoping it would stay in my arms. We threw it to each other so the creature couldn't get hold of it again. The battle continued until I finally had a hold of it. The scene was brutal as I leaped with the following behind. Then I kicked the berry: confidant that it would land in our house underground, behind the hills. But that was a really bad decision as we lost it before our eyes. Within only a few short seconds, I had let everybody down.

This morning was a normal morning until i went outside. When i went outside i saw a beautiful piece of fruit on the tree so i climbed up to have a look(it smelt delicious!).When i was climbing down a massive vulture landed on the tree and took the piece of fruit so i went after the vulture and ran as fast as i could to try get the piece of fruit. The vulture flew in the air so i grabbed onto the piece of fruit and went with him. Eventually the vulture dropped me and the piece of fruit and i manged to catch the piece of fruit. However i end up accidentally dropping it so me and the vulture both fly to try catch it. luckily the vulture ends up flying into a wall so i am able to catch the fruit. After that i run back home and kick the fruit into the tree but it ends up missing and splats onto the floor.

One spectacular ,sunny morning my friends and I woke up and happily got out of our home .Suddenly, we all stopped in our tracks to see the most beautiful fruit you've ever seen (I would say I was more shocked than the others). We all got onto the tree that had the fruit on it and I was the one to smell and touch it first ,it was GLORIOUS the colour was magnificent we were all shook at how shiny it looked in the sun.Suddenly we all heard something however I was the first one to run from this scary sound then I realised something it was a bird but not just any burd a VULTURE when he got the fruit rage bubbled up inside it wasn't just me though it was all of us.We desperately wanted that fruit so we started chasing him all of a sudden one of us decides to jump onto the vulture and try to get the fruit back even though our friend was clinging on really tight he sadly fell of then me and another friend decided to do it and I managed to get on next thing I know everyone was cling on all I knew was it was very hard in addition to that it was even harder since the vulture was flying all over the place trying to get us off. At last! I managed to get the fruit but there was two problems the first one was because I was in mid-air and the second one was that he -the vulture - was coming towards me but in the nick of time I threw it to one of my friends and the vulture crashed into me while it looked like the others were playing hot potato!! Then the vulture realised that I did not have the fruit so before my meerkat friend could get it the vulture caught it and we're all plummeting down .Once we were on the ground sulking the vulture was distacted and hit the wall and dropped the fruit then one of us got it and gave it to me and I decided to kick now we don't have the fruit anymore

These stories are amazing! The descriptive language that you have all used is incredible and shows what fantastic writers you all are. I have loved reading them this morning so thank you.
For those of you still wanting to write your own, you can just write straight into the comments box or write it on your computer and then paste it in - it is entirely up to you how you work.
Anna, that's great that you have done all of that work and the Joe Wick's workouts - well done. Have a read of your friend's examples and that might give you some inspiration. The idea is to write the video from the point of view of the main meerkat. I am just putting suggestions on the blog of which work you might want to complete, but you are more than welcome to be creative and produce work of your own.
Stay safe everyone,
Mrs Davies

When I woke up I could see that it wasn’t going to be a normal day. I was the first awake - that was normal - so I went to our meerkat peek hole , in addition I had a look around to see what was happening. I saw 2 other meerkats doing the same as me. Everyone in my house went to the tree. Once we were at the tree, we climbed the tree , which revealed the most amazing thing: a juicy, ripe, pink fruit! After that we climbed down and you will never guess what happened next.
After we had climbed down we gazed at how amazing the fruit was and then a big, scary looking vulture came onto the tree. We went back into our house, however not all the way in and we watched for a few minutes. After a few minutes, we started talking about the vulture and then the greedy bird took the fruit and went. We couldn’t believe it. We were furious so we followed it. The vulture kept getting higher and higher so we quickly thought and w cam to thee conclusion of making a meerkat train. We mad the train and then wee took off. We were flying. Then we knocked the fruit out of the birds claw and bingo. We thought we had won so we passed the fruit around and we dropped it.
We were back to square 1 as the bird caught the fruit. I thought fast and I jumped on to the birds back. Everyone copied me and we made a pyramid. Our pyramid made the vulture lose control because he crashed into a rock and dropped the fruit. We caught the fruit. We ran and ran to get away from the bird we were near the tree when I thought it would be a good idea to kick the fruit. I thought that if I kicked the fruit it would land on the tree exactly how it was before. I kicked the fruit and it went up and I got excited and then it went down and hit the floor with a SPLAT. We were all sad because the fruit was gone,on the other hand the bird flew past us laughing.

The Savannah is a usually a peaceful place where I can run free. This morning I was the first awake(like always). I was thinking it was going to be a normal day when I can go and do anything I want to like: running around , climbing on trees and having fun in the hot weather. So I got out of our hole and saw the most juicy fruit I had ever seen! I went to tell everyone to come and see it. They got really excited so we climbed the tree to reach the fruit. After a few minutes, we got down. Suddenly, a big vulture swooped round above our heads and landed on the branch that the fruit was on. We all went to hide. He looked at us, then took the fruit off the branch and flew off!
