This half term, we have read The Lonely Beast and used this to create some fantastic writing. We started with exploring the feelings of the Beast and the people, thinking about how our opinions changed once we knew more about the Beast. We learned how to write questions using question marks when we wanted to know more about the Beast. We wrote a diary entry using time adverbials (today, then, next). We explored poetry about jellyfish, describing how it must have felt to walk through a garden of them like the Beast did in the story. We then pretended to be reporters and wrote newspaper articles to help the Beast find his friends. Finally, this week, we have written letters to the Beast to tell him why we would be a good friend to him. We have learned to use contracted words with apostrophes such as I've, I'm, don't. We have also been using conjunctions such as and, but, so and because.
