Old and new!

Today we have looked closely at rescuers from the past and present. First, we looked at old fashioned fire engines. We noticed that the old engine didn’t have the same amount of tools and it wasn’t the same colour as fire engines today. We decided that the new engine would be more speedy and much safer.

Next, we looked at two lifeboats – one from the past and one from the present. We noticed that the new lifeboat had a red flag and an engine. We thought it would travel really quickly. The old lifeboat had paddles to make it move. It carried lots of people (19 in total) and it was attached to a carriage which had wheels to move it into the water.

All the children decided they’d rather travel on the new lifeboat because it would move much quicker and looked much safer!
