Today year 1 started using peer critique. Peer Critique is a procedure where children give kind, helpful, specific feedback on other children’s work. Today, we gave peer critique on a piece of poetry.
The children were excellent at giving positive feedback, they thought of some fabulous examples of things that made the work glow.
These included……
‘ I liked it how the writer has made the writing big so it’s easy to read’
‘I liked it how he has drawn himself and a snow man’
‘ I liked it how he used his imagination’
Then, they had the tricky task of thinking of things that could improve the work and make the learning grow.
These included…….
‘Next time he could make sure his letters were all sitting on the lines’
‘Next time he could improve his picture by colouring it in’
‘Next time he could underline the title’
The children really enjoyed giving feedback, some of them said they felt just like teachers!
