Today we learnt all about why we have day and night!
The children became the solar system and travelled around the sun. They turned on their axis to show when it was daytime and nighttime. When their faces were towards the sun it was day time, when their faces were away from the sun it was night time. The children found out that this process took 24 hours and were shocked to know that the Earth is moving all the time, even though they couldn’t feel it!
We then talked about the different seasons. We learnt that when Earth is tilted towards the sun it is our summertime and when we are tilted away it is winter. They found out that it takes a whole year or 365 days to complete one full resolution of the sun.
