We have been making our own part/part/whole models on the Interactive Board during Get Busy Time. We can explain that we need to count each of the groups first and then count all of the objects to find out how many altogether. This number then goes into the circle at the bottom (the whole).
We are becoming more confident in explaining our knowledge as we are working.
