Good morning everyone,

Thank you for your feedback using Teams today. After a few teething problems and through discussion with yourselves and teachers, we have tried to streamline the way in which we use the platform in order to make it easier to use.

From tomorrow, all our activities will be posted in Microsoft Teams through assignments. Assignments is found along the top information bar in Teams or as a post in the general conversation thread. This is where I can upload and assign work to the whole class or individual class members with a start and finish date. Here, children’s feedback and comments are private between teacher and pupil. We will expect children to post completed work in the assignments file, not into the conversation so that it's easier for me to find and mark. They can, however, share what they are proud of via the conversation thread.

Teams should be seen as a virtual classroom therefore the same expectations we have within our classroom apply within this setting. These are as follows:

  • Within Teams, students can discuss work, post relevant items and comment on each other’s posts and discussions if they wish to do so.
  • Any comments made within Teams should be positive, kind, supportive, helpful, giving specific feedback.
  • To be respectful towards one another in this group.
  • Emoji’s are fine to use as are GIFs as long as they are used sensibly (this is the fun part if used responsibly).

Teams is the new way for Roseberry Academy to access learning online during these difficult times. It is expected that all children are playing an active role on this platform. It is also expected that Teams is to be used predominately by pupils and myself. I will therefore not be making weekly contact with parents via phone calls. However, if you would like me to contact you, please don'y hesitate to email me at: a.charlton@roseberryacademy.org and I will happily get back to you as soon as I can, within school working hours.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
