Dear parents carers and pupils,

From tomorrow, all our activities will be posted in Microsoft Teams. Within Teams, children will be able to access activities, post comments, receive feedback, upload work and discuss any worries they may have. There are a number of ways they can do this:

  • Assignments (which is found along the top information bar in Teams). This is where I can upload and assign work to the whole class or individual class members with a start and finish date. Here, children’s feedback and comments are private between teacher and pupil.
  • We will expect children to post completed work in the assignments file, not into the conversation so that it's easier for me to find and mark. They can, however, share what they are proud of via the conversation thread.
  • Files (which is found along the top information bar in Teams). Documents can be uploaded here for children to access at any time. I will let you know if you need to look here.

Teams should be seen as a virtual classroom therefore the same expectations we have within our classroom apply within this setting. These are as follows:

  • Within Teams, students can discuss work, post relevant items and comment on each other’s posts and discussions if they wish to do so. It is also a safe area for children to air any worries.
  • Any comments made within Teams should be positive, kind, supportive and offer helpful and if you can, specific feedback.
  • We are respectful towards one another in this group.
  • Emoji’s are fine to use as are GIFs as long as they are used sensibly (this is the fun part if used responsibly).

It is expected that Teams is the new way of children to access learning online during these difficult times. We would like to see all children playing an active role on this platform. It is also expected that Teams is to be used predominately by pupils and myself. I will therefore not be making weekly contact with parents via phone calls. If you would like me to contact you, please email me at: r.harmar@roseberryacademy.org and I will happily get back to you as soon as I can, within school working hours.

As this is a new way of working for us all, there may be a few teething problems, so thank you very much for your patience and continued support J

Take care and stay safe,

Miss Harmar
