Monday 4th May
Happy Monday everyone!
You can see from our previous blog post some of the examples of brilliant work created by our class on our last project - Uninhabited Island Part 2. Well done everyone, again you have proved what super independent learners you are!
Project Week 3
This project will be created and carried out over this week. Then if you would like to carry on completing this project over the next few weeks whilst you are at home, on your own or with the people that you live with then please do so.
This week the project is PE and science based.
As we have done for the past two weeks, each new project will be posted on the blog on a Friday for the following week. This enables adults who are working from home to have a look at the project and provides an opportunity for discussion over the weekend, should you wish to do so. It then means on a Monday morning if the adult you live with is working from home you will be able to start your project straight away. I know that you are all superb independent learners! However, please do not feel that you need to look at the blog before Monday.
Health and Fitness Project
Week 3.
Project 3 duration - one week (hand in date - Friday 8th May 3.00pm).
For this project, you will again have a core task and then there a number of suggested activities with which I would like you to choose at least two. You may also think of other wonderful ideas that you would like to create in addition to this. I am really looking forward to seeing the high standard of work you produce again this week.
Project Overview
On your marks…. Get set ……Go!
This week is about fitness and activity. I have really missed seeing you all taking part in PE lessons and the children running their socks off in our cross country and football clubs! This week we are going to look at physical activities that we can do at home, to stay fit and healthy. Did you know that when you exercise or take part in physical activity, your body releases a chemical (endorphin) and this makes you feel good? It is good to know in these funny times that doing something simple such as exercise can make you feel a little brighter.
We are going to have some fun designing some fitness programs for you and the people you live with! This will be general fitness activities that everyone in your family can join in with. This could be in your back garden, yard or even in your front room!
At Roseberry, every day you show you are active by the choices you make at school; at playtime, lunchtime or after school and on a weekend, when you attend the wide variety of after school clubs, teams and classes and activities you do with your families. We have cyclists, dancers, rock climbers, footballers, gymnasts, cricketers, athletes, tennis players, ballet dancers, swimmers, netballers, hockey players, rugby players, hill walkers, to mention a few! Phew….you are busy! Whilst at the moment we are unable to participate in our usual activities, we can still stay fit and healthy at home. This week we are going to look at creating general family fitness programs for people that you live with. Then a range of activities to choose from including creating specific programs for your sport or activity, creating your own Roseberry Family Olympics at home and thinking about mindfulness activities for wellbeing, including yoga. Finally, we are going to think about what we eat, making healthy meal choices and the impact this can have on our bodies.
Go to our class Microsoft Teams page and click on the ‘Files’ tab to read the full project - ‘Health and Fitness Project Week 3’, to see what a fabulous fitness week we are going to have! The core task and suggested activities have been set for you to upload your work on to ‘Assignments’ when you have finished. I cannot wait to see what brilliant work you plan, create and carry out this week!
