What a wonderful way to end this week, enjoying some beautiful weather in the outdoor play area.  Some of the children planted sunflowers and runner beans this afternoon.  We have now got quite a large variety of vegetables growing in our outdoor area - peas, potatoes, radishes, lettuce, tomatoes and strawberries.

We are going to have a bit of a sunflower competition, to see which ones grows the tallest!

Some of the children got creative inside and outside the classroom. Look at the imaginative and wonderful things you can do with simple wooden blocks!

And inside we’ve had creative writing.  Turning simple pictures and adjectives word mats of animals into songs, how fantastic!

This week the children have been using the laptops.  We have been learning how to log on and off properly and looking at what all those strange buttons do on the keyboard!  We will be spending the next few weeks practising our IT skills and hopefully producing some work on Word.

To continue our Paws, claws and whiskers topic, we have been looking at how animals are similar to us.  We then thought about what animals eat and how we could categorise them into carnivores, herbivores and omnivores.  We worked in pairs to complete a sorting activity and were quite surprised by some of our findings!

We also had some very exciting news in Year 1, that links perfectly to our topic, with the arrival of these 3 beautiful puppies!  They belong to a very happy little member of our class and she was very excited to share her wonderful news.  Watch this space for updates  and pictures as they get bigger! How gorgeous!
