We had a fabulous Maths sessions today creating a bar chart using different sea creatures.  All of the children were very engaged and actively involved.

First we used the Numicon pieces to create the numbers at the side of the chart.  We then took it in turns to find sea creatures that looked the same and place them onto the chart, making sure they were in the right places.

When we had finished we talked about which column had the most, the least and which ones were the same.  We were very good at explaining our answers by recalling that the most is the column with the biggest number of fish and the least had the smallest number of fish.

When we had finished using the chart for our Maths session we had another go independently.  We even had a funny little crab creating a bar chart with his claws.
