We have continued our topic 'Gallery Rebels' by focusing on a different style of art this week. The children have been learning about the artist Piet Mondrian. They looked at some of his artwork and how it changed and evolved throughout his time as an artist. They compared his pictures to the work of others that we have studied previously. Using the iPads, the children then had a go at creating their own.
In science, the children have been learning about light and how shadows are made. They learnt that light travels in straight lines and the difference between translucent, transparent and opaque materials. They then had a go at making their own puppets and using torches to see what kinds of shadows they could make – they thoroughly enjoyed experimenting with this.
