Our new topic is called 'Ready, Steady, Grow'. This project teaches children about food and farming and explores themes, including where food comes from, what plants and animals need to grow and survive and what constitutes a healthy lifestyle.

Today we brought in a selection of fruit and vegetables and made a shop. First, we talked about money and how we could pay for our shopping. We all took a 1 penny and a 2 penny.

We choose 2 items from the shop and paid by matching the coin to the price tag.

Afterwards, we had a time to talk session. We showed each other what we had bought. We all had a go at guessing what the item could be by smelling and feeling it.

Next, it was time to chop it all up. We thought about where it was grown, and how it looked inside. We noticed some had seeds, but each piece was different.

Finally, we had a taste! We talked about its taste and texture. We had some funny faces while trying a slice of lemon!
