Although this week has been assessment week, we’ve still had lots of fun and fabulous learning taking place.
In topic we’ve continued our learning all about predators. On Monday we used a world map to locate different types of predatory birds around the world. We were surprised at how many predatory birds lived in the United Kingdom.
On Tuesday we used our research skills and found out information about aquatic predators. The children enjoyed finding out facts and information about where they lived, their lifespan, how big the grew and how they attacked their prey.
In ICT the children continued their learning about how to use search engines in order to find out facts. The children had to select the correct words they wished to search, make sure it was an appropriate search and then use the information they had found to record the information.
Finally, to end the week, children work collaboratively to create, describe and explain the parts of a food chain. The children had to ensure they had linked all of the parts of the chain, using arrows and lines and then make sure they had labelled the diagram using scientific language such as, apex predator, prey, predator and producer. It was great to see all the children working together and having fun!
