This week we've had lots of fun using Modroc and painting our volcano models which we made last week.
The children were fabulous at working together talking about where the Modroc needed to be placed, supporting each other when the material got twisted and then thinking carefully about the final effect they wanted to create using paint.
It was wonderful to see such teamwork and collaboration taking place throughout each session and in each learning group.
After the children had completed their group models, they evaluated their work. They thought about what they were pleased with, what they didn’t like and how they could improve their work next time. All of the children thought long and hard and came up with some great ideas.
In English we have continued reading the story of ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter’ By Philip Pullman. This week the children wrote a letter from Lila to Lalchand, to let him know that she was going on a journey to find the Royal Sulphur from Mount Merapi. The children supported each other to write the letter and included lots of vocabulary they had learned from the text.
