This week we've been working on our sketching skills. After learning all about Pompeii and the destruction caused by Mount Vesuvius, we learned about the bodies that were left behind. We looked closely at the different body shapes, where they might have been found, what they could have been doing at the exact moment the volcano erupted and how they must have felt.
With this in mind, the children used their amazing observation skills and their drawing skills to create their own sketch of one of the humans remains. The children were challenged by the shapes and encouraged to use shading to make the image stand out and show how there is light and dark around the image.
I was really impressed by the work they produced and how much detail they tried to include in their drawings.
