We have started to look at numbers in lots of different ways.
We have learnt a ditty to help us remember how to form the numbers.
This is the ditty for the number 1.
We looked at what the numbers look like when written and what that number looks like in objects.
We explored the classroom looking for actual numbers and a given number of objects.
We found 1 nemo, 1 cube, 1 stick (we even thought the stick looked like a number 1), 1 curly pipe cleaner.
We also looked at what the number 1 looks like in a ten frame and what the numicon 1 looks like.
This is the ditty for number 2.
When we found 2 items from around the classroom we realised that the items did not need to be exactly the same to be 2 things. Although the counting people aren’t the same they are still 2 people and even though the pencils aren’t the same colour they are still 2 pencils.
We are getting really good at matching numbers and objects.
