Today, we had to be investigators. Miss Burley set us a challenge – she wanted us to work with our learning partners and find out how to make an electric circuit and make the bulb light up. She made it very tricky for as she only gave us two wires, a light bulb and a battery!
It took us some time to work it out but, finally, after lots of perseverance we made the bulb light.
This is what we had to do:
First, we used the clips on the wires to attach them to the battery. Then, we attached the other end of the wires to the bulb. Some of us attached the metal clips to the plastic on the bulb, in doing this the bulb didn’t light up. Once we attached it to the metal the light came on. This helped us to understand that only metal helps the electricity flow.
We had lots of fun making the circuit, so Miss Burley set us another challenge. This time we had to make the buzzer sound. We were much quicker at solving this problem – we knew to replace the bulb with the buzzer and it made a sound.
What a fun afternoon we all had!
