We have really been enjoying our Squiggle whilst you Wiggle sessions.  Each morning we get 2 flappers and hold them in a pincer grip (our hands make a duck’s beak shape).  Then whilst the music is playing we make big and small movements with our arms and wrists to represent different letter shapes.

Today we did large arch shapes which will help us to form all the letters that need this shape such as m, n, h, b, p and r.  We gradually made this large shapes smaller to focus on the wrist and finger movements.

We had great fun and were out of breath at the end.

After we made the shapes using the flappers we repeated the movements using crayons.  We managed to produce some fantastic arch shapes using our pincer grips.

These Squiggle whilst you Wiggle sessions will help us to hold our pencils in a pincer grip and enable us to produce some lovely neat letters.

They all did a fabulous job at holding their crayons correctly and enjoyed putting the crayon in the duck’s beak.  If you do any drawing or writing at home please encourage your child to use a pincer grip and remind them that their fingers make a beak shape.
