We’ve had a wonderful week of learning during SAW (Science, Art and Writing) week, and the theme this time was ‘lunchbox science’. Year 4/5 have concentrated on wheat, which is a key ingredient in most breads.
At the beginning of the week, we looked at some wheat poems to gain inspiration. We used these poems to write some of our own. We also wanted to show off our beautiful handwriting.
We looked at the Grain Chain, and created our own collages to show this process.
In little groups, we loved having a go at making soda bread; it was so easy and tasted delicious too.
We recreated a Van Gogh painting using acrylic paints. It was quite tricky, as we used lolly pop sticks instead of paint brushes to create texture.
At the end of the week, we found out fascinating facts about the wheat kernel.
The children have worked so hard this half term. Enjoy your week off and stay safe.
