Happy Helpers
When the children arrive at nursery on a morning, they usually find their name and place it on our name board. This allows the children to recognise their written name and use their fine motor skills to carefully stick it on the board.
This term we decided to change our board to, ‘Happy Helpers’. The children choose an area they would like to be responsible for that day. At the end of a session the children are in charge of making sure that area is clean and tidy. This is encouraging the children to be responsible and observant, as well as encouraging them to check how many people should be in an area, by recognising if 1, or 2 more happy helpers are needed.
