The children have returned to school full of energy and eager to learn.
We have started our new book ‘The Ice Bear’ written by Jackie Morris. This week saw the children listening to the first paragraph in the book. They heard the text and used visualisation to create their own sketch. The children enjoyed producing an image from their imagination, which included, blue caves, small animals wrapped in the arms of their mother and darkness and cold all around. After, producing the image the class included words and phrases, which came to mind as they listened to the section of the book.
In topic, we have started our new topic ‘Predator’ The children have developed their understanding of food chains and started thinking about prehistoric predators. The children have enjoyed finding about the process, creating fossils and what information we can gather about predators from what they leave behind.
Today we had a wonderful visit from the Dogs Trust. The children listened carefully to our visitors who spoke about how to stay safe near dogs, what to do if a dog attacks you and how to care for dogs at home. The children really enjoyed the visit and learned a lot of important information.
