This week has been another fabulous one, with some excellent work, wonderful collaboration and great fun!

This week we have finished reading our story ‘The Firework Maker’ the children enjoyed reading the story and hearing the tale of Lila. The end task was to write a diary extract using some new vocabulary or RAG words. The children found the words in the text, used a dictionary to find out the word meanings and then wrote their own diary using the new vocabulary. We all produced some wonderful pieces of writing.

After making our modroc volcanoes a few weeks ago. The children finally had the opportunity to watch them ‘erupt’ After mixing vinegar and bicarbonate of soda the children enjoyed watching the ‘lava’ flow down the side of their models. We had great fun!

We have worked collaboratively this week, by working in small groups to create our own seismographs. The children had to follow instructions, work together and then finally test their model to see if during an ‘earthquake' it detected and measure seismic waves!

This week has seen us come to an end of our ‘Tremors’ topic. The children have had an opportunity to share their amazing pieces of topic homework with their class and peers. It was great to see how proud they are of the work they have produced and how they were able to talk about their learning and retrieve information about the topic. Well done everyone, and a big thank you to all the parents for supporting your child at home with their topic homework!
