We have had a fabulous celebrating cultures week, with a focus on Buddhism. We started by learning about Siddartha Gautama, the sufferings he witnessed and The Four Noble Truths. He became Buddha: teacher. We looked at the symbols of Buddhism and their meanings. One of these is the Lotus flower, which we learned how to draw. We also made clay Mala beads. Finallay we made Dharma wheels to illustrate the Eightfold Steps to Enlightenment. I’m really impressed with the discussions we have had about Buddhist beliefs and how we can all take on some Buddhist ideas as we care about each other and the environment.
