Today we had a long discussion about why we have a parliament and monarch and what we mean by civilisation.

The children enjoyed looking at images of the Houses of Parliament and learning about the MPs who work inside. We discussed Theresa May and her role in making decisions for our country and how MPs are voted into the House of Commons by people in our community.

Lewis said, ” Parliament is a group of people voted by us to decide what happens in our country.”

Theo said,” Civilisation is our community, it’s where we live. We care for everybody in our community.”

James said,”The monarch is our queen. We have learnt about Queen Victoria she was the monarch many years ago.”

Next we had the question- What would happen if we didn’t have a parliament or monarch?

The children decided that it would be a dangerous world to live in and things would change in our community.

Elsa said, ” It would be a scary place to live.”

Jayden said,” We would fight over food.”

Thomas said,” People would argue, our community would not care for each other any more.”

Hannah said, ” No-one would make decisions we wouldn’t know what was going on.”
