Today we have celebrated the life and work of Mary Anning. She was a fossil hunter that was born in Dorset in 1799. Mary and her father enjoyed looking for fossils on the local beach.

After many years, Mary discovered some amazing fossils which were taken to The British Museum in London to be displayed. She discovered three types of dinosaurs these included, Ichthyosaurus ‘Fish Lizard’, Plesiosaur Skeleton and the Pterodactyl ’Flying reptile’.

We have created or own fossils using shells and small creatures as well as using oil pastels to draw a portrait of Mary Anning.

Alfie said, " Mary was poor so she sold her fossils for a penny"

Joe said, " Mary was determined to learn all about fossils, she read lots of interesting books so she could learn more"
