Today has been Environment Day. We have been learning about why it is important to look after the planet, including the ocean. We started the day by helping Miss Tucker make a penguin from all of the plastic bags we have collected from our fruit deliveries. We then glued to bottle tops onto a big picture!

We then made our own picture. We talked about what a happy ocean would look like. We filled our picture with golden sand (Lilly), blue water (Elsie), Happy fish (Jessie) and lots of sea creatures (Nevaeh). Afterwards, we talked about a sad ocean. We filled it with a stormy plastic sea, a net catching the octopus and lots of sad animals.

On the afternoon, we turned our water tray from a clean water, to a dirty scene. Here’s what we said while playing:

  • “A bad beach, it will turn the water brown”. – Elsie
  • “Dirt and mud in the sea, its floated in”. -Lilly
  • “The fish would go away”. – Grace
  • “Wouldn’t want to swim in the water when we go on holiday”. – Nevaeh
  • “Sad”. -Sonny
  • “Fish might die”. -Cece
  • “The animals would get caught and trapped”. – Jessie
  • “Dirty fish”. – Woody

We collated all of our pictures and Global Council voted…..
