During Golden time, the children created some fantastic pictures using materials they gathered from around the school site. What imaginations!

We enjoyed taking part in an inter-school football competition.  There was great teamwork and everyone really entered into the spirit of the event.  Well done Discovery (yellow team) for being overall winners!

The children had a brilliant time learning CPR and how to use a defibrillator.

I was really impressed this week with the pride that the children show in their work.  Whether it is Literacy, Maths, Science or Topic, the children work hard to produce ‘beautiful work’.

Today we went to the Ryedale Folk Museum for an evacuee day.  A great time was had by all!  The children found out about rationing and were able to sample some wartime cooking. They also went into the village shop with their ration books and, with an old penny, bought their sweet ration for the…

Fun and games in the wildlife area during Golden time!  As it was raining, we constructed a huge shelter that we could all get under.  We also had a go at making a trail and then we wondered if our friends could follow it.

This week in Literacy, the children have been writing evacuee stories.  We had some evacuees having a wonderful time and others, not so wonderful (like many real-life experiences).

This week in Literacy, we have been looking at the correct use of inverted commas.  We now know how to use them accurately, as well as being able to ensure we have included action within the speech.  We also looked at words better than ‘said’…

We had another fantastic time during Golden time.  This time we were building our own shelters.  We had mixed successes but everyone had fun!!

The children have had another busy week.  In Literacy, they have been writing a letter home as if they were the evacuee, Lenny, from our text ‘The Lion and the Unicorn’.
