Where in the World?
When the children were asked to bring in photographs of where they or their families had been on holiday, I was amazed how well travelled they are!
Tales Told in Tents
In Literacy, we have begun reading stories which originate from Central Asia and were ‘told in tents’. We have enjoyed listening to some and we have also had a go at sitting in our own tent (reading corner) to share and perform stories too.
Terrific Topic Homework!
Look at the homework, which the children produced, from our topic – ‘Home front Heroes’. Fantastic!
Natural Christmas decorations!
I asked: ‘Can you create a Christmas decoration from what you can find on the school field?’
This was their reply…
Human water-cycle!
We have been looking at the water-cycle and what happens. We decided to see if we could explain it by becoming the water-cycle! Can you spot the mountains, oceans and clouds? Can you recognise where the processes of evaporation, condensation and precipitation occur?
Let’s help the spiders!
This afternoon, during Golden time, we made wooden frames to help the spiders. Hopefully they will use them to spin their webs in. We will have a look next week to see if any have moved in!
Freeze frame
This week in Literacy, we told the story so far through freeze framing. The children thought about how each character was feeling and then we captured the moment. The children loved it!
Descriptive writing
The children described the settings from the story. Here are just a few; there were some great language choices!
Story map
Thanks to Mr Murton, we have been able to do some fantastic descriptive writing, annotating his story map. Ask your child what has happened in the story so far, I bet they can tell you in great detail!
Magical Mobiles
Look at what the children created in our wildlife area – beautiful!
Children in Need
We had a lot of fun today – bopping on the spot, covering Pudsey with our coins and playing corners. I particularly enjoyed the huge conga line we made as we danced back up to the upper school!
Our working week
We have had another busy week! In Literacy, we have started reading a new text and, after some interesting predictions, we are really enjoying what we have read so far and can’t wait to find out what will happen next! The text is ‘I was a Rat!’ by Philip Pullman.
In Maths, we are working in a…
