Year 2 2018 – 2019

Wednesday and Thursday were our transition days.

In September, our topic will be ‘Wriggle and Crawl’, therefore, we did lots of learning about minibeasts, and created some beautiful work.  We used watercolours to paint insects, made ladybird biscuits, discovered some differences between honey…

We had a lot of fun this afternoon with the virtual reality goggles!  We were transported deep into the rainforest, surrounded by elevated trees, beautiful flowers, and cheeky monkeys!

Today, we were visited by some fire officers from Northallerton.  They told us what to do incase of a fire, and taught us how to stay safe.  We even sat in their fire engine!

As the theme for S.A.W. week was ‘Epic Earth’, we decided to find out all about volcanoes.

We watched a really exciting video and then worked collaboratively to make volcanoes using plastic bottles, newspaper and glue. After leaving them overnight to dry, we painted them to look like active…

On Thursday, we visited Christ Church for an organ workshop.  Professor Baker and Mr Lee showed us different organ pipes, taught us a new song, and helped us build our own organ!

We all had a fantastic time today at our Sports Morning.  Everybody tried their best, and we had a lot of fun!

A huge thank you to all of the grown-ups who helped us out.

This afternoon, we thoroughly enjoyed having fun with all of the brilliant playground equipment that RAFT have really kindly bought for us all.  Thank you RAFT!

What a wonderful day we had today at Ryedale Museum.

In the Victorian school, we did some Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic with a very strict teacher!  We used ink and a quill, and a slate to record our work.  At play time, we even played with some Victorian toys.
