Mrs Murton 2018 – 2019

During Golden time today, the children were busy with lots of tasks.  We had den building, digging, bug hotel fixing and path clearing.

It is lovely to see the children working together and having fun in the great outdoors!

We have had an amazing week!  Our SAW (Science, Art, Writing) week was all based around ‘Space’.  We decided to concentrate on the moon and we had a great time!

In Literacy, we have been reading a little more from our text ‘The Village that Vanished’.  We have discovered that the girl’s village is about to be attacked by slavers so we found out what that meant.  The children were appalled that it actually…

This week, some of the children carried on with building the willow den while others decided that the wildlife area needed a bit of a tidy-up.  They discovered that there are some paved areas, which are being covered with soil and weeds, so they decided to start clearing them.  The children…

This week we began work on our new text,’The Village that Vanished’.  We have made predictions on what we think that it is going to be about.

We also found out about the area of Africa in which it is set – Mozambique.

This week, we battled against the snow and frost to add to our willow den.  Our hands were getting cold and the ground was too hard to bang pegs in!  We had a go though!

There was some great teamwork today, in the wildlife area, as we began making our willow den.  Joe in particular had some serious mallet skills!

In science this week, we have been looking at classification so we went outside to see how many plants and animals we could identify.  You would be surprised how many things we found!

Today, the children worked with their learning partners to produce a poem like the one we had read from ‘Tales told in Tents’.  If you ask me, ours are better!

This week, we decided to tidy up our wildlife area before we start on plans to construct a willow den.  We could not believe how much rubbish had blown in!

I have been really impressed with the children this week.  We have been finding out about factors, prime and common factors, prime numbers and composite numbers.  Children, can you explain to your grown-up what these words mean?
