Following on from our story, Spike - The Hedgehog who lost his prickles, we have been doing some art using Autumn leaves collected from our school grounds.

Reception have been celebrating whole school Cultures Week.  We talked about Harvest Festival and how this is a time when the farmers are busy bringing in their crops.  We talked about how Harvest is a good time to share our food with friends and neighbours.

Today, we read a story called 'My side of the scarf' by Carmen Parets Luque.  It is a story all about a friendship between Oliver and Violet.  They are the best of friends and as their friendship grows, so does their scarf.

This morning, during PE we incorporated some Maths and recapped creating and comparing groups.

We also worked as a team and had a go at creating a new shape.  We are really good at making circles and now we can make a square too.

Today, we combined our Snack Time with Maths.

We talked about the sizes of the different groups of fruits.  We could see that the group of apples had the most and the group of oranges had the least.  We then chose the fruit we would like and accurately counted how many were in that group.  When…

We have been creating groups and using our developing vocabulary to explain how the groups have been created.  We also played odd one out and explained why the shape didn't belong in that group.

During our PE session today we practised throwing and catching different sized balls.  We got into our coloured teams, made a circle and threw the ball to each other.  We found it easier to catch the larger balls.
