Year 1 Miss Harmar 2021-2022

What a superb week we’ve had! It’s been very busy in Year 1! 
 

As part of our topic, ‘Paws, Claws and Whiskers’, we’ve been creating cat collages using a range of materials - we think they look brilliant!

During Cultures Week we looked at Christianity. We visited Christ Church and met Rev. Paul and found out about what Christians believe. We talked about why Easter is such a special time for Christians and we retold the Easter story. We also made stained glass window pictures and chocolate Easter…

We have been learning about healthy eating and we designed and made Superhero salads. We could choose from lettuce, cucumber, tomato, cheese, ham, chicken, tuna, sweetcorn, carrots and peppers. We chopped and peeled the ingredients carefully to make our salads but the best bit was eating them!…

We have been making Superhero pictures. First we painted a background scene and added buildings using scissors, glue and chalk. Next we used photographs from our Superhero Day to make our pictures really special!

We had a fantastic time at our Superhero Day! We loved dressing up, having a superhero treasure hunt and we even did a superhero dance. We also made masks, superhero models and pictures.

This has been a wonderful for the beginning of Christmas. Your children has been amazing in the Prickly Hay show. There will be lots of tears.

Wow, what a week! So many busy things to do but your children -  as usual - have stepped up to the mark again. They have been working so hard at school and at home. Some of the creations, homework and writing they have sent in from home has really impressed me - and they are only 5!
